Make home improvement

Some tips from experts in the Times on how to improve the design and decor of your home.

1. First, think about how our days would be ideal. In addition to family and work, how they could spend the day? Maybe do a quiet place to sit and read for an hour, but do not want to lock ourselves into the family room, or maybe we like to cook, even if they have a kitchenette. Write what you think and the response of other household members, as this will lay the foundation of our system.

2. Make a list of things we saw and loved, and would like to copy. Not only inspired the television programs, exhibitions and magazines. Visit art galleries and museums, which may be the best example of how to combine shapes, textures, scale, lighting and space, not to mention the sound.

3. Observing our own space. What are its advantages? For example, if you have a good view can be specially designed for these views within the window.

4. And what are its drawbacks? terrible reviews, for example, require that the windows looked better, and still have a limited budget, we must consider as a priority.

5. Avoid being distracted by things like wallpaper and textiles, and focus more on fundamentals. Where to put a new floor can be an excellent opportunity to install floor outlets, for example, or a radiant floor below ground.

6. Rooms measure before investing in furniture. Develop a plan for each room and take it to the bank, with the band. Also measure the doors and stairs, to ensure that all the furniture we buy to adjust the camera for the first time.

7. But do not stop to ask suppliers (shyness) of large samples of tissue or floor to have more confidence in our decision. A large sample may give a very different impression of a minor.

8. When lighting a space to consider how to use: for example, a night light in the reading and the other in an elevated position for dressing. It may be useful to put the lights in the various circuits and potentiometers for better lighting control.

9. When buying electrical appliances must not forget the rule almost immediate obsolescence: today, the new technology becomes old quickly.

10. Get references from suppliers and see their previous projects. Having written goals, to lay the groundwork for an agreement.
